Hey,
you made a mistake
you think you're too late
your skin is bubbling, and the ground starts to shake
you realize what is bubbling
you know that it's not your skin.
it's the way you don't allow others to touch you
it's the way you want them to; the thoughts become some crazy taboo
they counteract
like some crazy science experiment where the ingredients do not mix
the sensations fester, they make you become a hypocrite where everything contradicts
what do you stand for?
do you stand for the feelings? the intangible, the impossible made possible
or do you stand for the process? the diligence, everything that is certain, explanations not being mandatory
because the process is tangible
you cannot control everything.
you know you cannot
where the hell is the plot
is there a button you can press that allows unfair feelings or motions to stop
is there a button to press that allows you to trust them
the people who reach out their hands, their fingertips so close and yet you don't know where they stem
where they collide with the natural and yet the self-made
"what are your prophecies?"
oh, they don't know, they're the same age as you are!
how do you proclaim that everyone has experience over you from afar
you barely know them. your emotions towards them are sub par
you assume, you gloom, you run from things as if everything goes boom!
you're silly...
you are capable of more, stop being scared to enter every room
stop being scared to let your thoughts be audible, be presented
who are you to know they're not interested?
that they really want to know "what's on your mind?" but they're also not ready to hear the answer
if they hear the answer, and you word what you say in a way they can't decipher
why not let things stir?
you let them become stagnant
over the fear that you're not important
stop acting like you can't get through this
the future is not going to be one full of bliss
ignorant bliss?
that's the only bliss that exists
you can be content
but that's with sacrifice, that's with intent.
that's with drive
most things you can survive
you can survive more things if you try
don't fall
don't act as if feelings are things that make your skin crawl
stop risking it all
in denial, incapable, inability to pursue
all ridiculous words that do not entail anything to you
don't get blue in the face
don't go all over the place
you are not a disgrace
what about grace alone?
faith
integrity
pride
resilience
persistence
words uttered but uttered with truth
with 2019 approaching
these are all things that you can brew.
start new
better yet
continue.
[You're not seeing me. You're seeing you in me. This amazing photographer I follow on Instagram takes pictures of beautiful people and captions them with words you can relate to. One of the topics that I discuss routinely is the problem I have with always talking in the first person. I try desperately to write entries people can relate to, and who can I relate to more than myself? That's why I say "I" a lot. But I'm talking to you. I want to talk to you. And that's my resolution; the dreadful "new year, new me" phrase substituted with my attempt at empowering you. "New year, new you, my friend. And I'll be with you every step of the way". I like it.
